Wills & Personal Planning Services

Our services focus on Personal Planning and Estate Planning. They work together to protect you and the people you love, but they cover two different moments in time.

Personal Planning applies during your lifetime. If you are unable to speak for yourself, whether through illness or injury, or simply because you are out of the country, Powers of Attorney and Representation Agreements let you choose a trusted friend or family member to act on your behalf and make sure your wishes are carried out. These documents stop applying upon death.

Estate Planning applies after your lifetime. It includes drafting a Will, which names a Guardian for any minor children, appoints an Executor to handle your affairs, and identifies your beneficiaries, so your loved ones face less stress during an already difficult time. A Will is an important part of an estate plan, but it isn’t the whole picture. Some of what you own, such as a jointly held home or an account with a named beneficiary like life insurance or an RRSP, often passes directly to that person, outside of your Will. That’s why it matters that everything fits together, not just that a Will exists.

Our approach is to walk you through each one in plain language and help you work out which combination makes sense for your situation.

Structured Precision, Every Step

Our team applies a systematic series of phases, ensuring each engagement advances logically from initial insight to final evaluation while maintaining full transparency.

Wills

Your Will is one part of your Estate Planning process. If you have minor children, it's where you name a Guardian to care for them. It also lets you appoint your Executor, the person responsible for managing and distributing your estate, and set out who inherits what.

If you don't have one: you won't have a say in who cares for your children if something happens to you. BC's intestacy laws also decide who inherits your estate, not you, following a fixed legal order that may not reflect your actual wishes, especially if you have a blended family or an unmarried partner. It typically takes longer and costs more for your loved ones to sort out, at an already difficult time.

Our specialists align digital platforms with strategic goals to unlock scalable efficiencies.

Powers of Attorney

An Enduring Power of Attorney lets you appoint someone you trust, your Attorney, to manage your legal and financial matters during your lifetime, if you become unable to, or simply aren't available to, such as while travelling. It stops applying upon death.

If you don't have one: if you become incapable of managing your own affairs, your family may need to apply to court to be appointed as your committee, a slower, much more expensive and public process than simply having this in place in advance.

Health Care Representation Agreements

Appoints a Representative to make health and personal care decisions on your behalf during your lifetime, if you’re unable to make them yourself. Like a POA, it stops applying at death.

If you don’t have one: health care providers will turn to a legal hierarchy of decision-makers, typically your spouse, then close family, which may not reflect who you’d actually want making those decisions, or may leave no clear decision-maker at all if your situation doesn’t fit neatly into that hierarchy.
