Our commitment
We take your privacy seriously. The information you share with us is often personal and sensitive, and we keep it confidential. In British Columbia, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) sets the rules for how organizations collect, use, keep and share personal information. This policy explains how we follow those rules.

What we collect, and why
To prepare your documents and advise you, we need to know the facts that matter to your situation. That can include details about you, your family, and other people involved. Wherever we can, we collect information directly from you, and only what we need.

If you contact us through our website, we collect the details you enter in the form, such as your name, email, phone number, where you live, and your message. We use them to reply to you and to arrange an appointment. Form entries are emailed to us at info@sicolinotary.com, which is kept on a secure Canadian server.

How we use and share it
We use your information to provide the services you’ve asked for. By hiring us, you agree to us collecting, using and sharing your information as needed to advise and represent you. We don’t sell your information.

In a few situations, the law allows or requires us to collect, use or share information without your consent, for example when we are legally required to.

How we keep it secure
We protect personal information, on paper and electronically, against unauthorized access, use, sharing, copying, changing or disposal. Electronic information is kept on a secure Canadian server.

How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as the law requires.

Your right to see and correct your information
You can ask us in writing for:

  • the personal information we hold about you

  • how we use it

  • who we have shared it with

We’ll respond within the time the law allows and help you as best we can. There are limits. For example, we can’t share information that would reveal someone else’s personal information, or that could put someone’s safety or health at risk. Fees may apply where the law allows.

If you think something we hold about you is wrong, ask us in writing to correct it. If we don’t agree, we’ll note on your file that you asked for a correction.
